MEANING OF MAIN OBJECTS

As per the Companies Act, 2013, the main objects of a company refer to the objectives for which the company is incorporated and the activities it will undertake in pursuit of those objectives. These objects are set out in the Memorandum of Association (MOA) of the company and define the scope of its operations as per the Main Objects. The Companies Act, 2013 mandates that every company must specify its main objects in the MOA at the time of incorporation.

The MOA is a legal document that sets out the constitution of the company and contains various clauses including the name clause, registered office clause, liability clause, and object clause. The object clause specifies the main objects for which the company is established and the activities it can undertake. The company can only engage in those activities that are within the scope of its objects clause.

The main objects of a company are important as they determine the nature of its business and guide its operations. They also provide a basis for its legal capacity to undertake certain activities, enter into contracts, and incur liabilities. Any changes to the main objects of the company require the approval of the shareholders and the Registrar of Companies. The Main Objects of a company provide guidance and direction for the business operations and decision-making of the company.
